Dr. Chin was born the middle child
of three in Hong Kong. At two and a half years old, a young
NeeOo Chin ventured to the United States with his family to
settle in Walnut Hills, a suburb of Cincinnati, Ohio. He was an
average student in grade school; however, in the eighth grade he
seriously began to consider his career. He graduated from
Withrow High School in 1973 summa cum laude, voted as
“Most Likely to Succeed”. From there he attended Edgecliff
College on a partial scholarship, but transferred to the
University of Cincinnati his sophomore year. Following in the
footsteps of his father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and
great-great-grandfather with aspirations of a career in
medicine, he applied to medical school. After his completion of
undergraduate studies and working for a year at his father’s
restaurant, NeeOo left for medical school at Ohio State
University. |
|
NeeOo finished his four-year medical school studies at Ohio State
University in only three years, and then moved on to his
arduous residency at Duke University Medical Center. It was amidst this
experience NeeOo discovered his niche – babies. From
this interest, others more specific emerged. First, he
became enthralled by a text in medical school that insisted in
vitro fertilization was not possible in primates and secondly,
his relationship with his chairman at Duke University Medical
Center, a reproductive endocrinologist, spawned the beginning
of his final calling to complete a 2 year sub-specialty
fellowship in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at
Ohio State University College of Medicine |

NeeOo founded The Bethesda Fertility Center in 1987. In 1992 he
moved on to The Christ Hospital to establish a new fertility center in
Cincinnati. He served as Co-Director for the center, providing
services in reproductive endocrinology and infertility including in
vitro fertilization. In 1995 he had the first successful in
vitro fertilization birth of a lowland gorilla in the world, Timu, at
the Cincinnati Zoo. After twelve years of conducting both
private practice services as well as in vitro fertilization, he
decided to streamline his practice. He shifted his practice to
solely low technology infertility treatments and reproductive
surgeries relocating to the Fairfield area of Cincinnati.

This change in
NeeOo’s life has allowed him to do what he does best, giving
exceptional care, time, and attention to his patients. He conducts
his practice in a down-to-earth and personal fashion, taking the time
to console, to explain, and to reassure. His support staff mirrors
this approach, making the entire office setting comfortable, friendly,
and efficient. This new location has also given him the opportunity
to practice what he preaches by being able to spend more time with his
wife, Shelly, their two children, Jason and Taryn, Giant Schnauzer,
Godiva, and Standard Poodle, Annabelle.
